Fillings Gallery

A filling replaces only part of a tooth due to decay or to replace part of a broken tooth. Some fillings take one appointment and some take two. The difference is whether the filling is made in your mouth, which takes one appointment, or out of your mouth, which typically take two appointments.

These are two old silver fillings that have served the patient well for many years. However, they are starting to show their age and they need to be replaced.

The left tooth was restored with a porcelain onlay, which covers the entire chewing surface of the tooth. The right tooth was restored with a porcelain inlay, which covers only part of the chewing surface with the rest of the tooth remaining in enamel.

This is another silver filling that is showing its age and needed to be replaced.

    Fillings Gallery Porcelain Onlay

The tooth was restored with a porcelain onlay since the cusps, which are the tips of the teeth, were too weak to be restored without being covered.

This is a lower molar with a fractured silver filling on the chewing surface and a separate silver filling on the outside portion of the tooth.

    Fillings Gallery Porcelain Onlay

The extent of the decay required that the entire chewing surface be replaced so the tooth was restored with a porcelain onlay.

The tooth was restored with a porcelain inlay, which restored the natural beauty of the tooth.

The tooth in the middle of the image had a silver filling that needed to be replaced due to new decay that had developed at the gumline.

    Fillings Gallery Composite Inlay

The tooth was restored with a composite filling, which was completed in one appointment.

  • Fillings Gallery Composite Bonding by

    Fillings Gallery Composite Bonding

Both of these teeth had been brushed too hard with a hard toothbrush, which caused the gum to recede and the root surface to be scrubbed away.

    Fillings Gallery Composite Bonding

Both teeth were restored with composite bonding, which replaced the missing root structure and provided protection to the remaining root surface.
